Sussex Going for Gold


Major John Harmes and his training team from Sussex ACF supported four Gold teams on their expeditions on Dartmoor this summer. Here they are being supported by a gate before the start of their adventure.

Silver anniversary of going for Gold in Bavaria


Three of the original staff of the Bavaria trip claimed an Allgauer Munro on Major Alan Thompsons 25th consecutive annual ascent of the Grunten mountain. He and the trips founder and ever present leader Lt Col Mike Gerrish were presented with a commemorative quaich by ACFA.

40 years DofE Service in Scotland


At the recent Gold Award Presentation at Holyroodhouse, the Duke of Edinburgh presented Lt Col Alistair Spowage, ACFA DofE Development Manager, with a certificate to mark his forty years of leadership service to DofE in Scotland. Looking on is Barry Fisher, Director of the DofE in Scotland, and a particular friend of the ACF.

EAAS at Bethesda


The DofE Panel delivered the generic accreditation training course to more new potential DofE expedition assessors in North Wales.

Bavaria 25 Team flag a Munro


Accompanied by the DofE Director for Scotland, two of the original ACF Bavaria staff from twenty five years ago flagged the Munro Ben a Chroin in the customary adverse weather to commemorate the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Black Watch flag a Munro


Congratulations to Black Watch Battalion on their successful assault on Ben Chonzie to celebrate the Commonwealth Games.

EAAS at Worcester


Major Bob Harrison and Hereford and Worcester ACF hosted an Expedition Assessor Accreditation generic training course at Worcester, with students from H&W, Dyfed and Glamorgan ACF and the Air Training Corps.

Highlanders flag a Munro


Congratulations to the cadets and adults of 1st Battalion The Highlanders ACF who successfully flagged Ben Wyvis as part of DofE Scotlands celebration of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Presentations at St James's Palace


The President of ACFA, Lt Gen Andrew Graham presented Gold Awards to 50 ACF and CCF recipients at St Jamess Palace, London. Gen Andrew was also pleased to present a certificate to Lt Col Alistair Spowage to mark his 40 years of Service to the Duke of Edinburghs Award.

Gold at St James's Palace


Over seventy young people who had attained their Gold award met HRH The Earl of Wessex and received their awards at St Jamess Palace London. Listen to what some of them said to Capt Michael Nolan about their experiences. Features cadets from Suffolk, Berks, Essex, Durham and a chat with Lt Cols Alistair Spowage and Mike Gerrish.
