Congratulations to SI Peter Lazell of Middlesex and NW London Sector on gaining his Gold Award. Peter is a veteran of the Bavaria Gold Trip(2009) when he also gained his DofE Certificate in Group Work Skills.

- Cumbria hosts Introduction to the DofE

A successful IttDofE course was held at Carlisle Castle, with members of the Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps coming together to work with staff from the North West of England.

A good turnout at Driffield for the Introduction to the DofE course enabled potential course tutors to be successfully assessed by members of the Development Network. It was good to see two members of the Sea Cadet Corps also attending the course.

- Cadets get DofE Leader training

Major Steve Frost, DofE Advisor for SW England, ran an Introduction to the DofE course at Budmouth College, one of our CCF Contingents. As well as leaders from Wiltshire ACF, senior cadets of the Contingent received their IttDofE certificate.

- Bavaria places going fast

The Cadet Gold Trip to Bavaria will take place next year from 24 August to 02 September, and the coach is filling up very quickly this year. Candidates must attend a practice weekend in the North Pennines from 30 June to 02 July. ACF leaders from both Battalions were taken through an introduction to the DofE by Lt Col Roberta Turkington, ably assisted by Capt Martin Peterson, the Advisor for the North West Region of England

Congratulations to CUO Emily Simpkin of Suffolk ACF who was presented with her Gold Certificate at St James Palace, having completed her Residential at BRNC Dartmouth on the Cadet150 course last year. We wish Emily well in her studies at the University of Coventry on an Army Scholarship after passing AOSB at Westbury

- Expedition Assessor training in Dorset

Aspiring DofE expedition Assessors from Dorset ACF and Devon ACF attended the generic training course run by Lt Col Ashley Fulford at Dorchester. The candidates now need to complete at least one supported assessment to become nationally accredited.

- Going for Gold in Germany and Austria

35 members of the ACF, ATC, SCC and CCF travelled from all over the UK to take part in the 22nd Annual DofE Cadet Gold Expedition in Bavaria.It is good to report that all 35 participants successfully completed qualifying expeditions, and returned to the UK full of stories of their exploits. The 23rd visit is already in the initial planning stage, and will take place from 24th August to 2nd September 2012, and is open to members of all Cadet forces who are enrolled at Gold level.
